North Manor Conservative Councillors are alerting Residents on how they can share their views on the potential development off Springside Road

As many residents will know there have been various concerns about potential planning applications for the land between Springside Road and Burnley Road in Walmersley, commonly referred to as Church Fields. In January this year, residents and local Councillors were contacted by Iceni Projects on behalf of Morris Homes with a consultative document seeking our views. You can find the original document shared below.

Following discussions with residents, North Manor Councillors responded to Iceni to confirm we would not be supportive of the plans proposed.

Cllr Liam James Dean said

" I have recently opposed developments in the close vicinity of this project that I believe were subsequently not given planning permission. I do not believe the proposed plans adequately address the concerns I have had previously and would therefore base my comments on similar grounds that I have other projects."

Many local residents also responded to Iceni, most objecting to these plans.

Cllr Dean then asked Iceni Projects for a timetable and whether they planned to hold any residents meetings to discuss concerns the community had raised. The response was received on 1st February from Iceni Projects stated: "we can confirm that the planning application will be submitted today. As a result, there are no plans to host any community consultation events before the planning application is submitted."

Iceni Projects provided a future timetable and Q&A Response sheet, which they said responded to the concerns raised by residents and this again can be seen below. The future timetable received from Iceni Projects can be seen below:

We expect the planning application to progress in accordance with the following indicative timescales:

  • 1st February -submission of the application
  • w/c 14th February -application validated by the Council and uploaded to the Bury Council portal (assuming the Council will take approximately 2 weeks to validate the application).
  • w/c 7th March- 21-day public consultation period ends.
  • w/c 16th May - 13-week determination period ends. Planning application to be determined around this timeframe.

These timescales are of course subject to change, and the Bury Council planning portal will detail the key dates as they are confirmed.

North Manor Conservative Councillors will be writing to residents in the area advising them of this expected planning application and how they can have their say.

***UPDATE: 16th February 2022***

As yet no planning application has been communicated to North Manor Councillors, nor has it appeared on Bury Council's Planning Application site which you can view here: https://planning.bury.gov.uk/online-applications/search.do?action=simpl…;
