Conservative Manifesto commitment delivered - Supporting Private Hire and Hackney Cabs. A second MOT Testing Station to be established from April 2022

After many years of pressure, the Council have announced a second testing centre for taxis and private hire vehicles will open on 1st April 2022.

Many congratulations to Sunnybank Service Station on being awarded the contract.

The second testing station will offer drivers choice, something which has been lacking in Bury.

Cllr. Nick Jones, Leader of airy Conservatives said:

I am delighted that a second MOT testing station will go live later this year offering choice to the fantastic Private Hire Taxis and Hackney cabs in Bury

Conservatives in Bury have been pushing this policy for a number of years and now there will be an additional testing station complimenting the existing testing centre run by the council at Bradley Fold.

Councillor Luis McBriar, Shadow cabinet Member for Communities, Leisure and Culture said:

This is absolutely fantastic news for our taxi drivers, Labour have failed to support this brilliant industry which are an integral part of our community.

I’m pleased Labour have listened to the Conservatives on the MOT station, I now pray they listen on the Clean Air Charge.
