Cllr Liam Dean on Waterside Road
The poor state of Waterside Road

Residents of Summerseat are backing local Councillor Liam Dean’s petition to Bury Council to re-surface Waterside Road in their village.

Waterside Road is one of the main roads in the village and used frequently at weekends when the junior sports teams play on Summerseat Park. Over the past few years Waterside Road’s surface has degraded and is now littered with potholes and loose carriageway.

Speaking on the petition he started, Cllr Liam Dean stated “I have had many residents raise this with me, and I completely agree with them! Summerseat village has gone through a lot in recent times and the least our community can ask for is a road that isn’t falling apart”

“I’m pleased residents are coming together and signing this petition, Bury Council have known about the state of this road for a while and residents want their voice heard – this is what we’re doing.”

Waterside Road was one of Cllr Liam Dean’s recommendations to the council on their Highway Improvement Schemes, and though Peel Hall Road was included in this scheme, Waterside Road was not.

Local MP James Daly added “Summerseat has gone through a lot these past few years, I know from my time as Councillor for the ward how well used Waterside Road is for a village of it’s size – I’m pleased to support Liam and North Manor Councillors campaign to resurface Waterside Road”

“Residents across the rest of North Manor and Bury North know their area best – so if they have any other road concerns they can raise them with me at www.JamesDaly.org.uk/potholes

Petition to re-surface Waterside Road

  • Current Your details
We, the undersigned, call upon Bury Council to make a firm commitment to fully resurface Waterside Road in Summerseat. As one of the main roads in Summerseat Village, Waterside Road experiences increased traffic on weekends due to junior sports activities held on the nearby Summerseat playing fields. Unfortunately, the condition of the road surface has deteriorated significantly over time. Despite the efforts of local councillors who have advocated for the resurfacing of this road and requested its inclusion in the HIS3 funding, Bury Council has yet to act.
This petition will be submitted to: Bury Council.
Our goal is to gather the number of signatures required to elicit a response from a Cabinet Member per Bury Council’s constitution, at which point we will present it.

Why do we need your name and address?
Petitions submitted to Bury Council are subject to review and will only be accepted if upon random check of 10% of the names entered are from people registered in Bury. This prevents petitions being submitted where false names etc are given, however, does require a name and address to be added.
I would like to be kept up-to-date by the Conservatives on future issues that matter to me:
